Read this passage carefully and answer the following questions:

It has been raining for seven years. Thousands of days were flooded from one side to the other. The days were filled with flowing water and endless showers. Strong winds churn9ed up the sea into a nightmarish rage. A thousand forests crushed by rain, had grown a thousand times to be crushed again. This was the way to live forever on the planet Venus. Here was a school room for boys and girls coming with rockets from Earth. They are establishing a civilization in this rainy land.                                                                                              Activity 1                                         Answer the following questions :

i) How long did it rain on Venus?

Ans: It has been raining for seven years on Venus.

ii) What was the way of life in Venus?

Ans: The days were full of running water and endless showers. Strong winds churned up the sea into a nightmarish rage, with waves that might dwarf the island. Thousands of forests were littered with rain. This was the way of life in Venus.

iii) Who put civilization in a "rainy country"?

Ans: People who came by rocket from Earth established a civilization in a 'warring world'.              Activity 2 

Do as instructed:

i) Opening the gate, the man entered. (Convert to a compound sentence)

Ans: The man opened the gate and entered.

ii) He was very sorry and left the place. (Change it to simple sentence)

Ans: sadly he left the place.

iii) Work hard or you may not be able to (Turn into a difficult sentence)

Ans: if you don't work hard you can fail.

iv) He was tired and could not walk. (Change it to simple sentence)

Ans: he was too tired to work.                           Activity 3                                   Your father has to shift to a different district due to his job requirements. Write a letter to the Headmistress / Headmaster of your school seeking a Transfer Certificate.
